Clos Terre Kermes
AOP Cahors
Clos Terre Kermes
AOP Cahors
100 % Malbec – Old vines from massal selections (planted before 1971)
Terroir
Born from the oldest vines of the estate, Clos Terre Kermès precisely reveals the depth of the Cahors limestone plateau.
Rooted in red clay soils mixed with gravel, rich in iron, manganese and mica, resting on a friable Jurassic limestone bedrock, the Malbec draws rare energy and expresses itself with remarkable purity.
Vinification et Élevage
The harvest is carried out by hand at optimal ripeness, with full respect for natural balances.
Vinification is conducted parcel by parcel in small concrete tanks. The grapes, partially destemmed but not crushed, ferment with indigenous yeasts and are handled with extreme care to preserve the integrity of the fruit.
Extraction remains gentle, using light pump-overs and soft wetting of the cap. Long macerations of 20 to 25 days allow the full complexity of the terroir to be expressed.
Ageing extends over 18 months in new oak barrels.
No fining or filtration is carried out, preserve the wine’s living structure and purity.
Deep black color with purple highlights.
Nose
Refined and complex, combining notes of licorice, blueberry, violet, and gentle spices.
Deep, elegant, and floral, carried by a velvety texture and silky tannins.
A Cahors wine of great pedigree, vibrant, long and finely structured, carried by the breath of its terroir.
