100 % Malbec – Old vines from massal selections
Terroir
L’Art et la Matière is born from very old vines planted on the Cahors plateau, where red clay soils mixed with gravel rich in iron, manganese, and mica rest on a Jurassic limestone bedrock.
This deep, vibrant terroir allows for a precise and expressive interpretation of Malbec.
The harvest is carried out by hand at optimal ripeness, with full respect for the vineyard’s natural balance.
Vinification is conducted parcel by parcel in small concrete vats. The grapes, partially destemmed but not crushed, ferment with indigenous yeasts and are handled with great care to preserve their integrity. Extractions remain gentle, using light pump-overs and sprinklings. Maceration lasts 18 to 20 days.
Ageing continues for 24 months in oak barrels (half new, half one to three year old barrels), imparting depth and harmony without overpowering the fruit.
No fining or filtration is performed, preserving the living essence of the wine.
Dark, black-colored robe with purple highlights.
Nose
Complex, combining smoky notes, ripe black fruits, and gentle spices.
Deep, smooth, and fleshy, supported by finely textured tannins and a silky mouthfeel.
A Cahors wine of substance and finesse, where the terroir expresses itself with precision and sensitivity.
